Tinkerbell!

So a few months ago, I signed up for something I never thought I would do. I signed up for a half marathon. 13.1 miles through Disneyland California. I ran a little track my junior year in high school and to be honest, I was not a fast runner, though my coach added me to the sprinters list. So after I had my third child, my friends quickly got on my case to get to the gym, because they were determined that I was going to do the mud run with them in August. I wasn't quite ready. Not sure that getting back into running was something I even wanted to do. However, I gave it a try, I started with a quarter of a mile. Then all of a sudden it was like fate, one of my friends posted a half marathon on their facebook wall. It was the Tinkerbell Half! It was calling my name. Yes it was time to get back out and start running. I signed up. Both feeling afraid and exhilarated at the same time. I got up to jogging a mile and a half, and then I sprained my ankle. But with only 3 months left until this race, I am back in action. My goal is to run the entire race without stopping. But I have also come to peace with the fact that if I absolutely must walk, then I will. One friend tells me (she just ran her first half at Long Beach last weekend), "just have fun with it, I stopped and walked, I stopped and took pictures. Don't beat yourself up if you have to walk" So with a new frame of mind, a more comfortable frame of mind, I am making more strides.

Have a Pixel-perfect day~!
